What is a meditation and how to practice?
Well, first and foremost, meditation can be anything. It can be sailing, painting art, listening to music, envision yourself at the top of your profession, etc. However, it is less about if you meditate and more about how you meditate.
Because similar to the law of attraction, you already do that. You are already a master meditator.
Matter of factly, every second of your existence is meditation. Every breath you take and every idea you create is a part of a meditation session. The question is: what is a meditation and how to practice?
What does this mean?
Well, you don’t have to find the perfect concept/application to or for meditation. It’s a matter of finding a method or a few methods that work best for you and/or your needs.
This applies to what meditation stands for: just do it, just be it.
Did you know that the power of the heart is thousands of times more powerful than the head?
No matter how you meditate, it is always best to lead with your heart and intuition. It’s how you live for the moment.
But what if you could always live for the moment? If you could always be the full embodiment of meditation?
Wouldn’t it be cool to be in a state of enlightenment like the Monks?
Thus, this article will be explaining what is a meditation and how to practice:
- Non-judgmental acceptance
- Self-love/art of compassion
- Going with the Flow
- Feel it to Heal it
- Meditate on Miracles
How to Practice Non-judgmental acceptance
If there is one way to define meditation, it is garnering the willingness to accept every part of yourself. Quite frankly, if no one has ever told you this: you are non-judgmental acceptance. Plus, for instance, when you find yourself vibrating during meditation, do you wonder why? Do you think to yourself, “OMG, I am finally vibrating and it feels hella great!:
Guess what? You are always vibrating. Yes, this is similar to how you are always meditating.
Likewise, you are always non-judgmental acceptance. Meditation is merely like a vehicular guide to getting you there.
Only there is a catch.
You are not going to a place, ahem, state of non-judgmental acceptance. You are coming from this state of awareness.
Essentially, you are willing to go back to your roots. To be proud of where you came from.
After all, when you live by something aren’t you at least thrice as likely to die by it.
The best news is that this doesn’t even have to be physical — quite the opposite. I think that even the ego deserves a fair shot of dying from natural causes.
How does this happen?
Realize that the ego is the illusion. You, the essence of your soul, are the real deal.
Moreover, even if you think and feel the total opposite of non-judgmental acceptance, you are. You are the mountain!
The first step to practicing meditation is giving yourself some slack. You deserve it!
Self-Love/how to practice the art of compassion
Did you know that meditation helps put a smile on your face? Did you know that just by smiling two minutes per day you raise your energetic vibration? What if meditation is an ultimate form of expressing divine love to all your selves?
Well, you guessed it. Part of practicing meditation is loving yourself, faults and all. And that is what meditation does. It is a journey to speaking the language of your soul. Soon, you realize that the relationship with yourself is the key to all your relationship problems.
It is the perfectly imperfect way to shower yourself with love in ways you cannot dream, fathom, or comprehend.
If you ordered a Happy Meal, you can expect a buffet instead. Meditation is the eyes of your heart and soul. You begin to see the real you buried under the debris of past/present trauma, pain, and societal conditioning. Slowly but surely, you nurse yourself back to health. You see the man or woman in the mirror and you make that change.
Additionally, I can guarantee you that if you meditate daily, you are going to be practicing the art of compassion, an exquisitely, mutually rewarding form of self-love. Again, it doesn’t matter how long you do it. Just how often do you take a breather so to speak.
Secondly, self-love is the best love. Meditate on loving yourself fully, thoroughly, purely, and unconditionally.
You get what you give. Give yourself the world and then some.
How to practice going with the Flow
But, isn’t meditation allowing your mind to go blank and shutting out the world.
Yes, but it isn’t that complicated.
It is actually quite deceptively simple.
To reiterate, your mind doesn’t have to go blank during meditation. On top of this, a blank mind is a rarity. If you think your mind has gone truly blank, then perhaps you are meditating on non-REM (rapid eye movement) sleep.
But, still, even when you have dreams, you don’t always remember them. So, whether you are cognizant of them or not, one could argue that images and visual/sensory stimuli are always flooding your mind.
The question is: what am I drowning in?
What am I swimming in?
To keep the latter inquiry alive, the last of worries must rest upon making your mind go blank. As you can see, this is the antithesis of what meditation means. In the same vein, meditation is all about practicing the art of letting go. Of allowing what is meant for you to flow right over to you.
Moreover, the more you chase something, the more it runs away from you. The more you focus on what you don’t want, the more it manifests into your daily life.
As a result, it is a matter of focusing on being. It doesn’t matter what comes up to the surface or what thoughts and images infiltrate your mind. All you have to do is be a passenger to the experience.
The less you try the drive, the more you are going to drive.
Essentially, just go with the flow. See where the stream takes you.
Get lost in the experience. Immerse yourself in a paradise of miracles.
To the best of your ability, practice the art of being flow.
Feel it to Heal it
The only way out is through.
This empowering phrase rings with so much power and depth that it feels too good to be true. Except, it is a practice of being true to the struggles you are going through. Essentially, meditation is a way to heal your inner child and set yourself free.
Because of this, it is the precise way to transmute the negative to the positive. The hatred to love and the darkness to light.
But, how do you propose you do this? How do you heal and more importantly how don’t you heal?
First and foremost, you let go of the need to micromanage your emotions. Nine times out of ten this is how you were treated. Sadly, there is a decent chance that you internalized this as your dialogue and accepted it as fact on some level.
Even more insidious is that the effects of trauma can be quite covert and subconscious.
Luckily, when at rock bottom, we are alone together.
However, if you have never experienced pain that altered your perception of reality, you are not reading my article.
You wouldn’t even exist because life is full of bumps and bruises.
However, it is less about what is happening to you and more about how you respond.
Indeed, meditation is a way to impress a new narrative upon your subconscious. That the most organic way to heal is to feel what must be healed.
After all, the darkness must come to the light. Try being grateful that everything is coming up to the surface.
All that you’ve experienced was a red herring of a detour to make you stronger, greater, and better. Practice the art of being a victor even when being a victim is the devil you know. Only you can handle what you are going/ went through.
No one else can do it quite as well as you.
You are special, beautiful, talented, resilient, emotionally intelligent, empowered, successful, and totally worth it!
Then, you realize that all your pain, trauma, and abuse is the best thing that ever happened to you.
In addition to this, it is the best thing that ever happened for you.
Your emotions are what make you the most you. Be unafraid to feel as you must understand this is how to heal.
Meditate on Miracles
Zooming out, this is a must-have for everyone. At the very least, it is crucial to focus on what you do want. More importantly, focus on what you are. On who you are underneath who you think you are.
To clarify, you are even stronger than you thought. You are even greater than your most challenging moment.
Contrary to popular belief, you are a magnet. You can always change your energetic attractions. Like attracts like.
If you want to practice meditation to the best of your ability, just be it. Think and feel in that manner.
Create a positive affirmations list (short and sweet), express positive emotions, and focus on speaking positively.
In the end, you are the miracles that arise from meditations. You are all the good transpiring in your life.
To practice meditation is to be all that you seek.
By being the very art you set out to practice.
Remember, whatever you focus on grows.
And even when you are going off course, just know that you will sail back to safe waters.
Not to mention how you are going to meditate on miraculous travels.
All you have to do is invest in yourself and practice what it means to be a free sailor.
Do what is in your best interest and congratulate yourself for all the progress you’ve been making.
Focus on that!
Indeed, you deserve a pat on the back.
Miraculous one, you are a miracle come true!
