What is the freedom to be yourself

Is it not caring what over people think about you? Is it living your life sans shame? Does the freedom to be yourself entail quite simply embracing what makes you so unique and special in the first place? Well, while all these things are definitely true, they only account for the tip of iceberg. So, in regard to what is the freedom to be yourself, realizing the intrinsic significance is paramount. There is no universal definition of freedom, as with meditation, but it is universally a personal experience that can make the difference between living and merely existing.
I guess the more accurate question is whether you are willing to examine your life. Are you willing to let yourself free? Are you afraid of embracing the unknown? More often than not, we prefer to stick with the devil we know — it’s just human nature. But, however, this is oftentimes the antithesis to the epitome of real freedom. In other words we self-sabotage when don’t allow ourselves to be free because unbeknownst to us, freedom is a choice.
That’s right? Whether you experience pain, a natural part of life, or suffering depends on you. This, of course, encapsulates your thoughts, feelings, actions, behavior, habits, character, and ultimate destiny.
Luckily for you, though, even pain is significantly lessened with frequent meditation. You begin to bear the intolerable and smile at the face of challenge and adversity. Then, you feel free in the knowing that nothing within or around you can entrap you in a snare of existential slavery.
Thus, this article will examine what is freedom to be yourself whilst and post meditation in six beautiful, empowering steps:
- Enjoying the Experience
- Allowing Flow to Enter
- Feel Like a Prisoner
- Rekindle your Inner Child Flame
- Don’t Focus on Distractions
- Let Life Build the Real You
Enjoying the Experience

First and foremost, allow yourself to have a good time. In all honesty, you don’t need an excuse to feel good. Yet, with societal conditioning, we typically believe that we do. That’s why meditation is so important. It’s all about unpeeling the layers and pushing all the
erroneous buttons on your soul. Sure, it might sound hedonistic, but if for no reason at all, meditate for pleasure. Yes, pain and pleasure are like heads and tails on a coin — there is equal probability for both. Yet, if you set the intention for pleasure, eventually that’s what you are going to get. And, at first, you might have to be more mindful to ingrain this process. But, after a while, quite simply enjoying the process and being a passenger to the experience becomes easier than breathing.
Allow Flow to Enter

Speaking of which, allow your emotions to flow like a streaming art gallery, a lava lamp, or an aquarium to name a few. There is no reason to fight them. While you are more than them, they still cease to exist and thereby deserve the silent (or not!) reprieve. Plus, the more you fight flow, the more you fight your progress. Even if your body hurts like hell, just know that this is a sign that certain blockages in your body are being removed. It is such a blessing to realize that this is an opportunity to restore all energy centers in your being and accordingly be free. Moreover, if you didn’t have friction upfront, there wouldn’t be flow to look forward to. So,
find a relaxing place, sit down, take a few breaths, and allow yourself to be an avatar. You might feel like an alien inside but that’s okay. Just trust that wherever you are going is needed. So, don’t just go with the flow be that flow and get lost inside the magic. That said, you find the real you when immersed in sensational good vibrations.
Feel Like a Prisoner

That’s right I said it: feel like a prisoner. And, it’s not that I am telling you how to feel — not, quite the opposite! — it’s just that you must understand that okayness of feeling stuck. This, naturally, could apply to any or all attributes of your life. If you feel heavy, try to express gratitude for this negative vibration being addressed. Accordingly, you become free when you allow yourself to feel entrapped. Contrary to popular belief, most of us fight the feeling of being entrapped more than actually being entrapped. It is this reason alone that explains (mostly!) why we
subconsciously snare ourselves. Because of this, now is the time to be mindful of this counterproductive habit to restructure it as necessary. So, yes, feel constipated, feel stuck, feel like there is no tomorrow. Let all you’re raging, volatile, intolerable emotions explode. Then, note the freedom you emit when you allow these sensations to pass through you sans judgment, shame, or the like. Essentially, you are all but a prisoner.
Rekindle your Inner Child Flame

Who were you? Who were you not? Does the pure, unconditioned you even remotely resemble the person you are today? I am pretty sure the answer is a flat out, resounding NO! I mean, haven’t we all let life circumstances shape the psyche of who we are — good, bad, intermediate, or otherwise? Don’t we all miss the days in which we felt freer than a bird hawking over the ocean breeze? There is a reason why people typically say they miss the days they were youngest. Free of responsibility and pimp slapping realities. Yet, this mindset is that of
lack and limitation. The inner child is eternal. For reference, this was even referenced in Avengers: Infinity Wars when young Gamora met Thanos after ‘the snap.’ Anyways, the inner child is always with you. In many respects, it is you. However, this inner child can be abandoned and abused so much that it is all but dead. As a result, you leave your zest for life blowing in the wind, lost inside of a tapestry of what once was. To reiterate, this glimmer of hope is still an ocean. And with meditation, rekindling your inner child is your salvation, or Personal Jesus so to speak. Therefore, the freedom to be yourself lies within your inner child flame.
Don’t Focus on Distracrooms
Okay, Minxdiva is absolutely right on this one. I am so glad that I can across this message in my Email this morning. But, honestly, you cannot be free if you are distracted from your purpose. If you are like a cat chasing the light, you will never find the light burning inside. Moreover, the more you go out looking for this light, the further you are from the lighthouse called home. Instead, try to be mindful of what had been distracting you. Then, you can rectify this by training your focus on what is actually helping you grow. Thus, you will be able to eradicate the malignancies from your life, one by one. Of course, it is a matter of conserving your energy for something even better. Only invest your invaluable energy in what not only enhances your focus but also improves your ability to focus on what really matters most in all regards: meditation.
Let Life Build the Real You

More likely than not, we let life happenings discourage us. It can be so pervasive that we are left distraught. This magnitude of sorrow is like a rampant disease affecting us from the crown of our heads to the soles of our feet. That said, all seven chakras and then some become misaligned and plagued with malady. Just think about it. If you are
sore, wounded, and vulnerable, wouldn’t you be more susceptible to absorbing the worst bacteria and viruses? And, sometimes life is so hot, that our pores are wide-open — not to be cold! Existentially, we are a magnet for enslavement, undesired returns, and a lifetime of misfortune. As a result, we lose ourselves in the debris. Just as aimless as a feather drifting through the wind, yet just as heavy as a brick on ten! So, to what end do we come out of the other side in one piece?
Well, every setback, challenge, or failure is an opportunity to win and learn all the merrier. Meditation teaches that it is okay to fall apart with the promise that you will rise to even greater heights than ever before. Believe it or not, this is because you were never broken in the first place. Yet,
you identified with this vibrational awareness with your life. You believed that being free would take a death sentence to achieve. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, life is an opportunity for you to be the embodiment of freedom, to meditate on miracles and this make this an everyday occurrence. This, of course, is not because you are surrounded by miracles but rather because you are miracles emitting this vibration into the universe.
Accordingly, all it takes is being mindful of such great things!
In the end, meditation is freedom as freedom is real mindfulness. To reiterate, life doesn’t happen to you. Life happens for you to build your character, esteem, persona, stamina, drive, and capacity to be better. Thus, in the same vein, freedom is not only going back to the source of your willingness but also becoming something greater in the process.

Hello there.
Thank you for sharing this great article freedom to be yourself. Truth to be told is that most of us still enslaved by life that we easily miss what freedom is all about. Yes i think freedom to be yourself is to completely become ably to make an independent decision without what others may say in whatever sense.
Thanks for the productive commentary.
Hi there, I like this piece of writing you’ve shared with us, I find it very motivational. I must agree with you that sometimes we think that sticking to the devil you know is freedom. And this in my view is not freedom because when you stick to one thing, you do not explore the options of life, you don’t even try new things to see if you can fail or succeed, and that’s not freedom. Thanks for sharing, I will be sharing it further too.
Thank you for sharing your invaluable, unique perspective.
Maybe it is something I should try. I know the feeling of feeling trapped well. So frustrating with all these regulations and rules on covid makes me think they will never end and there is a life not worth living due to all the never ending government clampdowns.
Really I look back on my past and see the changes between then and now. It would be great to go back to where I was in the past, but they say looking back is not the way to do it, or is it one way to release the stresses of the now?
Obviously I don’t know much about meditation, but reading your article has spiked my interest. Thanks.
I am glad that my post resonated with you and encouraged you to give meditation a try. Thank you so much!
Thanks for a quite inspiring post. It’s great to read up on “Mindset” articles. I try to read at least one each day. It keeps you focused on what you are doing and what you set out to accomplish. So thanks very much for sharing this. It can be easy to find yourself distracted, especially when you’re working online.

Hi there
A great in depth article giving some great reasons as to why meditation is so powerful and how it can help us in our journey through life.
I agree that we are not free if we constantly fret about what others think about us. Nor are we free if we feel we need to hide our true feelings. In meditation we can really confront those feelings both good and bad.
I enjoyed reading through the 6 beautiful and empowering steps. Let go and allow the flow.
Best wishes

Hi Elijah. Thank you for another great post. Its always refreshing to read something more spiritual and less focused on day to day life. I couldn’t agree more that being yourself is only way for real happiness. To often we pretend to be someone different in work or home, just to be in line with other people expectations. But at the end of the day this is our life and our happiness we are fighting for, so we should stop pretending and focus on ourselves.
Thank you! Happiness should be a given, not an unknown.
